Central Pacific Bank expands online banking
Central Pacific Bank on Monday introduced an online service that allows customers to electronically open accounts without setting foot inside the bank's 39 branches.
The online service offers three accounts: Interest Checking, Personal Savings and Totally Free Checking. Customers open accounts by answering questions and verifying secure information that is unique only to him or her.
Checking accounts -- which are opened after the customer's signature card is printed and received by the bank first -- come with free starter checks, debit cards and online banking services.
Savings accounts -- which only require an "e-signature" -- come with free ATM cards.
"Central Pacific Bank's new service makes it possible for a customer to never enter a branch unless they choose to for expanded financial services or advice," said Wayne Kirihara, the bank's senior vice president of alternative delivery channels.
