Europe Economics Preview - German PPI Inflation Expected To Rise In May

Friday, the European session will start with German producer price inflation data, which is expected to rise in May. Another major report is from Switzerland, where producer and import price inflation is projected to pick up from prior month.

At 2.00 am ET, producer price inflation report is slated to be released from Germany. The Federal Statistical Office will publish the report for May. Producer price inflation is seen at 0.9% on a monthly basis for May and 5.8% year-on-year. German producer prices in April rose 1.1% month-on-month and climbed 5.2% annually.

Statistics Estonia is also due to release the pipeline inflation data for May at 2 am ET.

The French statistical office is expected to report final numbers for wages at 2.45 am ET. According to the preliminary estimate, wages rose 1.1% in the first quarter.

At 3.15 am ET, the Swiss statistical office will issue producer and import price data for May. Producer and import prices is expected to rise 0.9% in May from April and to increase at the same pace of 3.6% compared to prior year.

Dutch consumer spending for April is due at 3.30 am ET. Economists project spending growth to remain stable at 1.3% in April.

Later, Italian industrial orders in April are estimated to record a growth, after a decline in March, when ISTAT releases the report at 4.00 am ET. Monthly growth is seen at 0.4% and annual rise at 4.7%. The Italian statistical office will also release non-EU foreign trade results for May at 5.00 am ET.

The Statistics Iceland is due to publish the building cost index for July at 5.00 am ET.
