Latest technology to be introduced in various sectors CM

Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government wants to introduce latest methods and technology for surmounting problems in education, health, power generation, computer education and infrastructure sectors so that living standard of the common man could be improved. He said that in addition to improvement of healthcare facilities in rural and basic health centers, provision of medical cover through mobile clinic vans will also be considered. Similarly, he said, all options will be explored for power generation through hydel, thermal and solar energy.

He was speaking at a briefing meeting arranged by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for West Asian Countries Sohail Wajahat Hussain Siddiqui and other experts of a multinational company, Siemens, in Punjab House Islamabad Thursday.

PML (N) Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Members National Assembly, Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Ahsan Iqbal were also present on the occasion.

Provincial Secretaries and senior officers of education, health, information technology, power generation and infrastructure sectors also participated.

The Chief Minister said that government is working on war footing for the uplift of education, health and social sectors. He said that promotion of computer education is being promoted through setting up of computer labs in 4000 schools of the province. He said that a comprehensive programme will also be implemented for teachers training in information technology. He said that record increase has been made in the budget for health and education sectors.

He said that Pakistan is facing the challenge of power shortage and various projects for generation of electricity through hydel, thermal as well as solar technology will be explored. He said that power shortage is adversely affecting industrial and agriculture sectors and an effective strategy would be evolved for the implementation of power generation projects with the cooperation of federal government. He said that collaboration with private sector would also be considered for teachers training in IT sector.

He said that government is striving for rapid development of health, education, information technology, water management, infrastructure and other sectors and the use of modern technology is being ensured for this purpose. He said that equal attention is being paid to the use of locally manufactured machinery so as to save maximum foreign exchange.

Managing Director and Chief Executive for Western Asia of Siemens gave a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding companys mobile clinic van, home appliance and other products related to power generation, information technology, solid waste management, water management and waste water management. It also offered modern machinery and advisory services and cooperation to the government for planning in different sectors.
