Ruukki Runs Information Management Services Using Efecte System
Ruukki has adopted Efecte's ERP for IT solution, using which it manages information and costs related to its information technology assets and IT management services. The solution harnesses the industry's best practices i.e. IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) -based operating models.
"We need an ITIL-compatible system in support of support service control and service management, in order to facilitate both the operational management of services and service quality development in the long-term. We opted for Efecte's system because it enables flexible support for Ruukki's IT process," states Mauri Isokääntä, Corporate IT Manager at Ruukki.
Ruukki IT department is responsible for providing the Group's 14,600 employees, based in 24 countries, with IT services. "IT management services are extremely business critical nowadays, which shows in the related quality requirements," avers Juha Berghäll, Country Manager at Efecte.
"The ERP for IT solution provided will ensure that Ruukki IT department has real-time data on the quality of services and the current status of the IT environment, as the basis for decision-making. While supporting Ruukki's management of its outsourcing partners in a multivendor environment, the solution will also enable the secure and trouble-free management of business critical IT operations," Berghäll explains.
The solution provided to Ruukki covers solutions for Service Desk, SLA Management and CMDB (Configuration Management Database). Using a system operating on the same platform, user, software or unit-based information is easily available to those who need it. The implementation of the Service Desk component lasted less than three months, during which time the system was integrated e.g. with several vendors' service management systems.
Efecte's ITIL-compatible solution is designed for IT operations management. In the fall of 2007, Efecte was the first Finnish organization to be awarded the PinkVerifyTM ITIL certificate in four core ITIL service support processes.
