Novant consolidating billing operations
Winston-Salem could see a net gain in jobs as Novant Health Inc. streamlines its billing operations.
Novant, the parent company of Forsyth Medical Center, told employees in a meeting Wednesday that it will close billing offices in Winston-Salem and Fort Mill, S.C.
Novant spokeswoman Freda Springs said the moves will not eliminate any jobs. Rather, the company will consolidate billing into two offices, one at another site in Winston-Salem and another in Charlotte. She said some of the Fort Mill positions may be transferred to the Triad.
The billing center in Winston-Salem will handle billing for all of Novant's nine hospitals. The center in Charlotte will handle billing for Novant's physician practices.
"As the process moves on, (employees) may not sit in the same place, the job function may change, but there will be no job cuts or layoffs," Springs said. "All of this is to improve our operations and make billing a more patient-friendly process."
