Mortgage applications rose 3 6 last week MBA
Applications for the week ended June 27 were down 22.8% compared with the same week in 2007, the Washington-based MBA said.
Refinance applications were up 4.7% on a week-to-week basis, while applications for mortgages to purchase a home increased a seasonally adjusted 2.8%.
The four-week moving average for all loans as tracked by the MBA was down 1.2%. Refinance applications accounted for 36.8% of all applications last week, up from 36.3% the previous week. Adjustable-rate mortgages accounted for 8.5% of all applications filings, unchanged from the prior week.
The rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.33% last week, down from 6.39% the previous week, with 15-year fixed-rate mortgages carrying an average rate of 5.9%, down from 5.95%.
The rate on one-year ARMs, however, rose to 7.14%, up from 7.09% the previous week. The MBA's survey covers about half of all U.S. retail residential mortgage applications
