Volunteers sought for tax preparation

The AARP Tax Aide group is recruiting people to assist the area's senior citizens and low-income families with tax preparation.

Every year between February and April 15, the group offers free tax preparation assistance to area residents at various Fox Cities sites. The program is sponsored by the AARP, the IRS and the state Department of Revenue.

Volunteers attend training sessions in November and January, where they become certified. Previous tax preparation experience is helpful but not required. Computer familiarity is a plus.

Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of four hours per week or a total of 40 hours during the tax season.
