Venture capital at 536 million
Ohio ranked 13th in the U.S. in the total amount of venture capital money invested in fast-growing technology companies in 2007, according to a report out of Ohio State University.
Investors poured $536 million into Ohio technology companies last year, including $155 million shared by 88 seed and early-stage companies.
''Ohio's technology-based entrepreneurial community appears poised for tremendous growth in the next five years,'' said S. Michael Camp, author of the 2007 Ohio Venture Capital Report.
Of six defined regions, Northeast Ohio accounted for 60 percent of the state's venture capital.
