The Department of Justice has sued a Dallas tax preparation service, alleging it filed fraudulent returns. The complaint against Sameday Tax Services and owner Lennon Madzima alleges he used fuel tax credit, telephone excise refunds and other credits to file more than 1,100 returns with more than $1 million in combined fraudulent credits. The civil injunction aims to bar Mr. Madmiza from filing any more federal tax returns. “In the past year, the Justice Department has obtained injunctions shutting down several tax preparers who allegedly claimed bogus fuel credits,” said Nathan J. Hochman, assistant attorney general of the Justice Department’s tax division, in a release. “Since 2001, the Justice Department’s Tax Division has obtained injunctions against more than 340 tax-return preparers and tax-fraud promoters.” Attempts to reach the business and Mr. Madzima weren't immediately successful. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/ |
